Painting a house along Alabama's Gulf Coast can be tricky. Our area's high humidity and temperatures can limit the times that it's possible, and when it is, make the process a bit more difficult. But painting your home, inside and/or outside, is one of the most cost-effective ways to increase its value. As we head into a new year, that's something to keep in mind when making your home improvement to-do list.

Winter is often a particularly good time to paint indoors in South Alabama. Low temperatures pose less of an issue when painting indoors since latex paints' ideal temp range is between 50-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooler weather will even allow you to open the windows and doors with less of a chance of being bitten by mosquitoes.

Alabama's Gulf Coast contains several real estate markets depending on location and price point – just to name a few factors. The graphic below shows real estate statistics for November 2022, the latest month available.

Vital Signs provides a visual representation of what's happening in several local markets by showing you supply. The colored-coded numbers represent the absorption rate, the number of months it would take to sell every home on the market in a particular price range if no others were added. If the market is moving quickly, the absorption rate will fall below six months of supply, and if it's more of a buyer's market, it will jump above six months of supply...

New construction is booming in order to meet the demands of the more than 230,000 residents that now call Baldwin County home. Each month Baldwin REALTORS® creates a report from local government meetings to highlight what new developments are in the works in Baldwin County. Below is a brief list of the plans addressed in November 2022. 

Fairhope

  • The Fairhope City Council gave approval for a new 3-story, 24,000 square foot office building at 314 Magnolia Avenue. The plans gained approval with the condition that the courtyard enclosure does not exceed 42" on the north side and design changes making the courtyard enclosure more visible to the street view....
