The American Cancer Society (ACS) of South Alabama started a local initiative called the Real Men Wear Pink campaign. A group of men who are leaders in their community came together with individual fundraising to benefit cancer research throughout the month of October. The Fuse Project's Second Annual Dragon Boat Festival
On Saturday, June 6, 2015, the Fuse Project raised $150,000 at its second annual Dragon Boat Festival at the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center. With the participation of 45 teams and over 5,000 people in attendance, the event surpassed expectations and numbers from the previous year.
The festival is focused around the races, which consist of 20-person teams rowing a 46-foot long boat down the river with a drummer at the helm to keep the strokes on beat. Teams consisted of local businesses, nonprofits, educational leaders and several community groups. The free event all...
