Places to Go Fishing - Mobile and Baldwin County, AL - Bellator

Love fishing? Alabama's Gulf Coast is the perfect place to cast a line, and our real estate agents are excited to share some of their favorite local fishing spots. Anglers in Mobile and Baldwin County can catch a wide range of species from local beaches and piers, including redfish, speckled trout, whiting, and pompano. These are some of the best places to get casting.

  • Meaher State Park - 5200 Battleship Pkwy., Spanish Fort, AL 36527
Overlooking the fertile waters of north Mobile Bay, Meaher State Park is a popular place not only for fishing but also for hiking, paddling, and bird-watching. Anglers can cast from the bank, launch a boat at the park's boat ramp, or walk out onto the 500-foot, T-shaped fishing pier. The park is just a short drive from these Spanish Fort homes for sale, and the brackish waters support both freshwater and saltwater fish, so it's possible to catch bass and catfish along with redfish and speckled trout.

  • Gulf State Park - 20115 State Park Rd., Gulf Shores, AL 36542
Offering a campground and over two miles of sandy beaches, Gulf State Park is one of Alabama's most beautiful state parks and a great place to fish near these Gulf shores homes for sale. Surf fishing from the beach is popular in springtime before the beaches get too crowded, and common catches include whiting, pompano, and flounder. Gulf State Park also has an excellent fishing pier. Although it was partially damaged by Hurricane Sally, it is currently a little over halfway open, with 750 feet of available fishing space on either side.

  • Fairhope Municipal Pier and Park - 1 N. Beach Rd., Fairhope, AL 36532
The Fairhope Municipal Pier and Park serves as the unofficial "town square" in the community of Fairhope, just a short drive from many Fairhope homes for sale. The pier was rebuilt in 2006 on a site of the city's original commercial pier dating back to the 1800s. Today, the pier extends 1,448 feet into Mobile Bay and includes an on-site marina and restaurant. Benches and covered areas make it a comfortable place to fish, and a wide range of fish species are commonly caught beneath the pier.

  • Cedar Point Fishing Pier - 18250 Dauphin Island Parkway, Coden, AL 36523
Fishing is available 24/7 on the Cedar Point Fishing Pier on Dauphin Island Parkway. Built in the 1950s, the pier was privately owned until 2021, when it was purchased by Mobile County and opened to the public. You'll also find some beautiful Dauphin Island homes for sale near the Cedar Point Pier, where anglers commonly catch black drum, redfish, sheepshead, and a variety of other species. The pier is one of the few where Alabama residents do not need a fishing license.

  • Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge - 12295 AL-180, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
Located along the stunning Fort Morgan Peninsula, Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge offers access to both fresh and saltwater fishing spots. It's a great place to do some surf fishing on the Gulf side, with miles of open beach and walking trails that provide easy access. The bay side is better accessed by boat, and The Pines Boat Launch is a great place to start.
